NADCA Method - Treasure Valley

The Method
Matters.

Duct cleaning done wrong pushes debris around without removing it. Our crew uses a truck-mounted vacuum to create negative pressure across your entire duct system, then works every supply and return run with rotary brushes and air jets. Debris goes into the collection unit, not back into your home.

We also tell you when your ducts do not need cleaning. The EPA and NADCA are clear: routine cleaning without evidence of contamination does not consistently improve air quality. If the system looks clean, we will say so and save you the visit.

How often should air ducts be cleaned?

The EPA and NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association) do not recommend a fixed schedule. Clean your ducts when: you can see visible mold growth inside the ducts or on HVAC components, you find evidence of rodent or insect infestation, or ducts are clogged with excessive debris. After home renovations that generate significant dust is also a good time. Healthy homes with no pets and no allergy issues may go many years without needing cleaning.

Does air duct cleaning improve air quality?

In homes with visible contamination - mold, heavy dust, rodent droppings - yes, cleaning measurably reduces airborne particulates. In homes without those conditions, the evidence for routine cleaning improving air quality is weak. We will tell you honestly whether your ducts need cleaning. We do not sell services that are not warranted.

What happens during an air duct cleaning?

We use a truck-mounted or portable negative pressure machine connected to a collection point in your duct system, creating suction across the entire duct network. A technician then uses agitation tools - brushes, whips, and air jets - to dislodge debris from the duct walls while the vacuum captures it. Every supply and return register is cleaned. The process takes 3 to 6 hours for a typical home depending on system size.

Can air duct cleaning damage my HVAC system?

Done correctly by trained technicians with proper equipment, air duct cleaning does not damage ductwork. Done incorrectly - with inadequate vacuum pressure, improper agitation tools, or by an untrained contractor who collapses flex duct sections - it can cause damage. This is a case where cheap bids are a risk.

How much does air duct cleaning cost in Boise?

Our standard whole-home air duct cleaning is $449 for homes up to 15 vents, with larger homes quoted before any work begins. That price includes supply ducts, return ducts, and all register covers. HVAC coil cleaning is $149 add-on when booked at the same visit, or $199 standalone. Air duct sanitization is $99 as an add-on to duct cleaning. Prices are published and confirmed before work begins.

What is the NADCA method for air duct cleaning?

NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association) standards require negative pressure and source removal. We connect a truck-mounted or portable vacuum to create continuous suction across the entire duct system, then use rotary brushes, air jets, and whip tools to agitate and dislodge debris from duct walls while the vacuum captures it. This is different from a blower-only method that pushes debris around without capturing it. The full system - supply, return, air handler cabinet, and blower - is addressed in a single visit.
